Laser Declaw A surgical laser provides the most humane and least traumatic method of declawing a cat. Older, traditional methods of declawing require a tourniquet to control bleeding during the procedure. These methods involve a quick cut with a guillotine-like tool or the use of a scalpel blade to cut the tissue. A tourniquet is not required when using a surgical laser. The laser beam is accurately controlled to cut only the necessary tissue while sealing nerve endings and blood vessels. Because the laser procedure does not crush or tear tissue, there is minimal swelling after surgery. Laser declaws result in less pain and quicker recovery to normal activities. The laser procedures is ideal for cats and kittens and especially beneficial for older or heavier cats. For further information or to schedule a laser declaw, please call: Dr. Cathy Rahimi at (651) 552-9101
Laser Surgery When we opened the clinic eight years ago, we vowed to use the best medicine and equipment available so all our patients would have the best care possible.
We bought our Surgical Laser upon opening the clinic because it is the best and safest way for the patient to have surgery. Post-op pain, swelling, bleeding, complications, and recovery are all greatly reduced.
Surgery performed with a Laser has many, many benefits. Here are just some of the examples:
* Greatly reduced pain
* Little or no bleeding
* Decreased swelling
* Anti-microbial
* Sealed nerve endings
We do all of our surgeries with a laser, but we do not charge more than any other animal hospital for this remarkable service. Read more about Laser Surgery here!

Laser Therapy Blackberry Veterinary Center is the first clinic in Minnesota to implement a high level therapy device that utilizes Laser Technology!
The results are amazing and most of our patients start feeling relief immediately!
Laser Therapy is used to treat painful conditions like arthritis, back pain, knee injuries and hip dysplasia. It is also used to treat traumatic skin wounds, muscle and nerve injury.
Laser therapy doesn't just mask the pain, it heals the problem! We can heal damaged nerves, bring circulation back into a compromised area, and significantly decrease healing time of wounds and incisions.
Allergy patients also benefit with decreased inflammation, itching, and the anti-microbial effects.
Laser therapy is used on all species: cats, dogs, birds, reptiles and horses. It's great to be able to make our patients feel so much better, with no side effects!
Laser Therapy has been used on humans and animals for over 30 years but until now we have never had a device that was strong enough to reach deep into muscles and joints.
Therapy lasers used in the past were used for superficial conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome because they could penetrate only 2-3 centimeters deep. They were unable to treat the back or the hips of animals.
Recently FDA cleared this new Class IV device which penetrates from 1 to 10cm deep depending on the condition we are treating. We control the dosage. This allows us to treat skin wounds as well as hips and backs.
With treatments on chronic conditions we bring patients up to the therapeutic dose level over a course of usually six treatments and then maintain them with a single treatment once per month. Many patients start feeling better even after the first treatment!
Effects of Laser Therapy:
* Analgesia (pain relief)
* Accelerated healing
* Increased circulation
* Anti-inflammatory
* Anti-microbial
* Reduced scarring
* Accelerated bone regeneration
* Increased Range of movement
